Skill Level: Easy
Home Assistant is very lightweight and designed to run on a Raspberry Pi. For most average users, a Raspberry Pi will be more than capable of accomplishing everything they ask of it.
The Raspberry Pi 4 model B is the recommended spec for the latest version of Home Assistant as of the time of writing (Oct 2020). You can run Home Assistant on older versions of the Rasberry Pi, but your experience may be impacted.
If you don't have a dedicated Z-Wave Controller such as as a Samsung Smart Things Hub or a Fibaro home Centre, adding a Z-Stick to your Raspberry Pi can be a great way to integrate Z-Wave into your controller.
Please Note: For large Z-Wave networks of 50 or more devices, it's recommended to have a dedicated controller.
